Tomas Riehle (1949 - 2017)

Tomas Riehle is a Cologne-based photographer specializing in architecture. He has worked all across Germany for museums, architecture firms and many other clients. Riehle’s photographs focus on geometry and symmetry, highlight the aesthetic characters of his subjects as sculptures as opposed to emphasizing the functionality of the subjects as buildings. He distances himself from these architectural structures, and captures his images by meticulously manipulating light and presenting his subjects as works of art.

Riehle’s long-term project, Museum Insel Hombroich, is a series of photographs of the Museum Insel Hombroich in Germany. The photographs were collected in the winter of 2014, for a photo book titled “Heerich auf Hombroich”, published by Nishikawa Fine Art.
